09 February, 2026At BIEMH 2026, MADIT will showcase the One Palma Soft Step, a titanium mast step manufactured for the company ONE PALMA. This product demonstrates the potential of metal additive manufacturing in demanding naval applications. The component has already received a DAME Award at the international trade fair METSTRADE, which recognizes solutions with significant technological contributions to the maritime sector.
In this project, MADIT assisted ONE Palma in defining the design of the piece using engineering and structural simulation, addressing a complex mechanical and functional challenge. The use of additive manufacturing has allowed for the optimization of the step's geometry, reducing weight and material without compromising strength or safety, a balance difficult to achieve using conventional processes.
The component is manufactured from Ti6Al4V titanium alloy, a material that offers a high strength-to-weight ratio and excellent corrosion resistance in marine environments. The design freedom inherent in metal 3D printing has facilitated the integration of functional solutions such as a more comfortable walking surface, a magnetic closure system, and a certified attachment point for cargo.
The product is owned by ONE PALMA, a Mallorca-based company specializing in nautical services and composite solutions. It demonstrates how metal additive manufacturing expands design and engineering possibilities in the naval sector.
