Outokumpu is the largest stainless steel manufacturer in Europe with over 100 years of experience in producing this material. To contribute to our vision of being the first choice for our customers when it comes to sustainable stainless steel, the company has acquired a state-of-the-art Vacuum Induction melting Innert Gas Atomization (VIGA) atomizer to produce metal powders from scrap generated in the cold rolling process in Krefeld, Germany. The atomizer has a capacity of 300 tons of high-quality spherical metal powder annually. Outokumpu has the ability to fractionate the powder into different grain sizes to suit various additive manufacturing technologies. The company also has a fully equipped laboratory to characterize the physical and chemical properties of the produced powders.
