MARIEL DIAZ, NEW PRESIDENT OF ADDIMAT

On 13 May, the General Assembly of the Spanish Association of Additive and 3D Manufacturing Technologies, ADDIMAT, elected Mariel Diaz as its President in replacement of Jaume Homs.

Mariel Diaz is the CEO and founder of Triditive, an Asturias-based company founded in 2016 that develops industrial machinery and software for the automation of additive manufacturing. Triditive has received several international acknowledgements and distinctions and has offices in the UK and the US.

Ms. Diaz holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oviedo and Industrial Engineering from Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas (Colombia), as well as a master degree in negotiation from Harvard University. Diaz has taught on the Masters in 3D Printing at the University of Oviedo and works as an additive manufacturing expert for the European Commission and the Fraunhofer Institute.

She has received numerous awards, including Spain's Female Entrepreneur of the Year in 2018 from the Secot and Repsol Foundations, runner-up in the global award for Women in Tech 2020 in the Startup category, and winner of Nova Talent 2021 for Engineering and Energy. Diaz is the Asturian ambassador for Women in 3D Printing and Alumni of Techstars, the outstanding worldwide technology business accelerator.

Diaz has been on the board of management of ADDIMAT since 2019 and was appointed to the role of vicepresident of the association last year. The goal of the new president of ADDIMAT is to showcase additive manufacturing and its importance for creating the factories of the future.

For the CEO of Triditive, it is also important to get to know the partners and create collaboration spaces that foster the growth of additive manufacturing in Spain and help generate business opportunities. Lastly, from ADDIMAT Ms. Diaz aims to bring visibility to the additive manufacturing technology being developed in Spain.

ADDIMAT's 2021 activities and results were presented at the general assembly. It was a favourable year for the sector in terms of sales and for the association itself, which has grown substantially with the incorporation of 19 new partner companies. In addition, the management plan for 2022 was approved, with new initiatives aimed at promoting growth in the sector and accelerating the adoption of additive manufacturing technologies in Spanish industry.

The sector is gearing up for its main event of the year in less than three weeks: the sixth edition of ADDIT3D in Bilbao, the largest commercial event for additive manufacturing and 3D printing in Spain. The event will showcase the latest advances in systems and machinery for additive manufacturing and 3D printing, industrial applications of additive manufacturing, raw materials, consumables, 3D printing services, additive manufacturing software, scanners, etc. In addition to holding Additive Talks, a seminar dedicated to presenting the latest innovations in additive manufacturing on 16 June.

ADDIMAT is a member of AFM Cluster, an organisation that represents the ecosystem of advanced and digital manufacturing and is made up of six industry associations, grouping over 700 companies, which employ 16,500 people and have a joint turnover of over 2.8 billion euros.
