23 March, 2026Sicnova has developed ARMIA3D, an artificial intelligence-based solution designed to detect and prevent attempts to manufacture firearms or critical components using 3D printing. The initiative addresses the need to enhance safety in the use of additive manufacturing technologies without restricting their development in industrial settings.
The solution operates in the early stages of the production process, analysing files and metadata associated with print jobs to identify risk patterns. This approach allows control policies to be applied before the part is actually produced, prioritising prevention over models focused solely on detecting the final product.
ARMIA3D is compatible with systems from leading 3D printer manufacturers and can be integrated into both the equipment and job management systems. Data processing is carried out locally, without the need for an internet connection, ensuring the confidentiality of information and the technological sovereignty of user organisations.
The development has been carried out by Sicnova and the spin-off Glosso, from the University of Jaén, in collaboration with the Civil Guard. The solution is designed for implementation in industrial, educational and service environments where traceability, operational safety and regulatory compliance are key aspects.
