SICNOVA ANNOUNCES THE LARGEST OFFER OF SKILLED JOBS IN THE ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING SECTOR IN SPAIN: MORE THAN 50 NEW JOBS IN FOUR PROVINCES

23 May, 2024Sicnova - leading distributor in Spain and Latin America of the most relevant brands in the additive manufacturing market, including the leading Spanish multinational in industrial metal 3D printing solutions Meltio - has announced the creation of more than 50 skilled jobs in response to the development of the contract signed earlier this year with the Spanish Ministry of Defence. This is the largest job opening in Spain in the additive manufacturing and industrial 3D printing sector.

Among the jobs demanded in this Sicnova offer are professional profiles such as engineers, operators, chemists, manufacturing and industrial design technicians, among others.

The agreement signed between the Ministry of Defence and Sicnova, with an execution period of four years, is worth 82.6 million euros. Sicnova is the marketer of Meltio, a 3D additive printing machinery manufacturing company that already has contracts with the US Navy and has even embarked one of its hybrid systems to manufacture and repair metal parts on board a US Navy ship.

Defence aims with this alliance to ‘improve the supply and logistics chains of the Armed Forces, increase the operability of fleets, resources in operations and avoid problems related to the obsolescence of parts and pieces, as well as increase their useful life or implement performance improvements’ through ‘a strategy of design and additive manufacturing that allows the development and manufacture of parts, spare parts and tools’.

3D printing of parts avoids having to accumulate stock, as they can be manufactured on the fly and according to the needs of the moment.

As a development of this agreement, Sicnova is now launching this call for the creation of more than 50 qualified jobs to respond to digitalisation and provide Defence with the best additive manufacturing systems that it needs to incorporate into the Spanish Army, Navy and Air and Space Force. The aim of these jobs is to attract qualified talent and profiles related to industrial design, 3D printing and additive manufacturing, engineering, among others.

Sicnova, which currently has a total of 60 professionals at its headquarters in Linares (Jaén) and other national and international centres, plans to locate these new jobs specialising in Defence and Space at its centres in Linares (Jaén), Córdoba, Rota (Cádiz) and Albacete.

In the opinion of Raúl Cueto, head of Human Resources at Sicnova, this job offer is a great professional milestone for the creation of quality employment.

‘From Sicnova we started our Defence and Space line for the application of the latest advanced manufacturing technology. For its start-up and development we have launched an offer of more than 5o high value jobs covering various occupations such as Engineers, experts in materials, CNC, design and scanning, Mechatronics operators, Chemists, IT...
