OPTIMUS 3D BUYS THE ALBA 300 SAMY LABS TO CHARACTERIZE NEW METALLIC MATERIALS QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY

12 April, 2021

The technological Optimus 3D, Additive Manufacturing engineering based in the Álava Technology Park, has just acquired the ALBA 300 Samy Labs, a 3D laser printer that keeps this company from Álava at the technological forefront of the sector and allows it to continue offering its client portfolio top quality services in the field of additive manufacturing.

Among its multiple functionalities, the Samy Labs 300 has a powder chamber for laser fusion that allows printing up to 0.1kg / hour of steel. The equipment allows high versatility in terms of manufacturing parameters, enabling eficient material parametrization. It is equipped with a 300W laser, a galvanometric system capable of speeds up to 2000mm/s and a beam diameter of 50µm, among other characteristics.

This Made in Basque Country technological development is designed to work on a Ø 160 mm x 160 mm work area and uses argon and nitrogen as protection gases. The versatility of this printer will also allow Optimus 3D engineers investigate the development of alloys such as nitinol or copper, adapting the equipment with the required modifications. This new incorporation broadens the range of solutions for the Health, Aeronautical or Industrial sectors, where at the moment the economic return that is sought when using additive technologies tends to combine the lowest cost with a high degree of efficiency.

"Even in times of uncertainty and instability like the current ones, we understand it more necessary if it is possible to maintain the commitment in favor of innovation, both for our own daily activity and for that of our clients, hence we have made this important investment and strategic ”, says Alberto Ruiz de Olano, CTO of Optimus 3D.
