NAITEC INCORPORATES NEOTECH AMT·S FIRST 15XBT 3D ELECTRONIC PRINTING SYSTEM INTO ITS EQUIPMENT

18 October, 2023

Neotech AMT GmbH of Nuremberg, Germany announces the successful installation of the first new 15XBT System for 3D Printed Electronics at NAITEC, Navarra Spain.

The 15XBT is a replacement model for the best-selling PJ15X with major upgrades to the mechanics, HMI and control system, as well as integrating a new tool calibration station.

The new system is targeted at R&D, rapid prototyping and low volume manufacture of 3D printed electronics. It combines multiple printing technologies with surface mount device pick and place and 5-axis motion control. Using a standardised, high-performance control system, the 15XBT offers a clear path to series manufacturing for processes developed on the platform.

Through the choice of multiple printing technologies, the 15XBT supports the widest variety of functional materials - conductive inks and pastes, dielectrics and other functional materials that can be accurately deposited onto complex shaped, non-planar substrates. Furthermore, the system can also 3D print mechanical structures in thermoplastics, thermosets and ceramics to enable the production of ‘Fully Additive’ mechatronics.

“I am delighted that the first 15XBT has been chosen by NAITEC. They are one of the pre-eminent centres of excellence for mobility and mechatronics in Europe, providing innovative and sustainable solutions to a global market “, reports Dr Martin Hedges, Managing Director of Neotech. “The project will enable unique product designs that, for the first time, combine mechanical, electrical and potentially optical functionality.”

Javier Bravo, researcher at NAITEC, shared, “We are very happy and satisfied installing the new 15XBT multi-material printer in our facilities. We have over 15 years’ experience in 2D printed electronics and this system is the key piece of equipment we need to be competitive in the emerging sector of 3D printed electronics. We are now equipped to incorporate passive and active electronics to our customer’s components from the automotive and mechatronic sectors. We will help companies to innovate, enhancing their existing products or creating new ones with the disruptive approach of 3D printed electronics.”
