FRESDENTAL ACQUIRES RENISHAW·S RENAM 500S SYSTEM FOR MEDICAL IMPLANT MANUFACTURING

01 June, 2020

Renishaw, a company specialized in process control, the manufacture of metal additive manufacturing systems and know-how of this technology, has supplied Fresdental Advanced System with one of its machines in the RenAM 500 range. Fresdental is a nationally leading milling center with more than 20 years of experience in the dental prosthetics industry. This acquisition aims to in the words of Francisco Pérez, CEO of Fresdental "to open the doors to new designs that are more innovative, high quality and more biocompatible."

RenAM 500 systems are used to manufacture components from different materials through the additive process called Powder Bed Fusion. From thin layers of metallic powder, it produces complex shapes that cannot be manufactured using traditional techniques, such as casting, forging or machining.

The machine acquired is the RenAM 500S, based on the operating principles of the RenAM 500Q system. The RenAM 500S is designed specifically for manufacturing in a production environment. It provides automatic dust and waste management systems that makes process quality easier, reducing operator intervention time. One of the main advantages that Fresdental will benefit from in the use of this system is the customization to the customer’s measures of the implants they manufacture.

Fresdental will use the RenAM 500S system for the manufacture of skull-maxillofacial implants (CMFs) in grade 23 medical titanium, with future forecasts of expanding to implants for the rest of the body.
