AIMPLAS WILL SHOW AT ADDIT3D ITS DEVELOPMENTS IN NEW FUNCTIONAL MATERIALS FOR 3D PRINTING

17 May, 2018

AIMPLAS will present at ADDIT3D its innovations in thermoplastic materials for additive manufacturing from 28 May to 1 June.

Thanks to its extrusion, compounding and design capabilities, the technology centre has been able to improve the characteristics and properties of plastic materials to the point of giving them new functions such as thermal and electrical conductivity.

From 28 May to 1 June, AIMPLAS, the Plastics Technology Centre, will take part in a new edition of ADDIT3D at Bilbao Exhibition Centre. There, the centre will expose its capabilities for the improvement and functionalization of thermoplastic materials through projects such as IND 4.0 2 and FADRIVER, both with funding requested to IVACE, the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness.

Thanks to its extrusion, compounding and design capabilities, AIMPLAS is currently working on the development of new customized materials to be used in additive manufacturing (3D printing) in the form of rods. These capabilities allow even the modification of materials to get functional properties such as conductivity, solubility, antimicrobial features, etc. that offer several applications in different sectors. In the case of new plastic materials with thermal conductivity, AIMPLAS is already developing new moulds for the industry replacing aluminium moulds with similar performances and extra durability compared to those manufactured with conventional plastic materials.

AMPLAS’ stand at ADDIT3D will also show other innovative developments of the centre such as biomedical models for planning difficult surgical interventions such as cardiovascular ones.

Furthermore, Serafín García, Head of the Design and Injection department and coordinator of the working group on Additive Manufacturing of AIMPLAS, will participate in the event’s agenda with a presentation in New technologies and materials for additive manufacturing.

About AIMPLAS

AIMPLAS, the Plastics Technology Centre, is located in Valencia (Spain) and is recorded at the Register of Technological Centres of the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. The institute is member of FEDIT (Spanish Federation of Innovation and Technology Entities) and REDIT (Network of Technological Institutes of the Valencia Region).

AIMPLAS is a non-profit research association with the object to operate as a technological partner for enterprises from the plastics industry and thus offering them integral and customized solutions by coordinating research, development and innovation projects as well as technology services (analysis and testing, technical assistance, training as well as competitive and strategic intelligence).
