ADDIMAT JOINS AM-EUROPE AND THE MANIFESTO FOR A COMPETITIVE ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING SECTOR IN EUROPE

04 July, 2025

San Sebastián, 4th of July 2025–ADDIMAT, the Spanish Association for Additive Manufacturing Technologies, joins AM-Europe, the new platform led by CECIMO, the European Association of Manufacturing Technologies, which brings together the main national associations representing the additive manufacturing sector in Europe. As the first milestone of this initiative, the Manifesto for a Competitive Additive Manufacturing Sector in Europe has been presented, defining a shared vision and a strategic roadmap to position Europe as a global leader in this key technology.

Additive manufacturing is a driving force for industrial resilience, the green and digital transition, and for enhancing the competitiveness of European companies. However, its large-scale adoption still faces major challenges, such as the need for increased investment, aligned policies, the development of a specialised workforce, and the strengthening of public-private collaboration.

In this context, AM-Europe emerges as the new platform giving one voice to the EU’s AM sector. Driven by CECIMO and backed by the influence and proven track record of the national industrial associations that support it. AM-Europe brings together the efforts of organisations that have been working for years in a coordinated way to advance additive manufacturing in Europe.

CECIMO was a pioneer in recognising the strategic potential of additive manufacturing. As early as 2015, the association created a dedicated working group to promote and raise awareness of these emerging technologies. Later, in 2018, CECIMO took a further step by establishing a specific division exclusively focused on defending the interests of the AM sector, thus consolidating its role as the main interlocutor with European institutions and international industrial stakeholders.

With the launch of AM-Europe and the publication of this Manifesto, the sector reaffirms its commitment to working together, with a single, coordinated voice, to definitively advance additive manufacturing in Europe. Among the strategic recommendations included in the Manifesto are:

  •    The development of a coordinated European strategy for additive manufacturing, similar to the EU’s existing action plan for artificial intelligence.
  •    The creation of a European public-private entity that serves as a central point of reference for the sector, providing information on regulations, standardisation, market access, and R&D.
  •    The recognition of additive manufacturing as a critical technology for industrial resilience and emergency response, due to its ability to enable local, flexible, and rapid production.
  •    The promotion of training and qualification programmes to ensure a skilled workforce capable of supporting the sector’s growth.

As the representative of the Spanish additive manufacturing ecosystem, ADDIMAT fully supports this initiative and reiterates its commitment to actively contributing to the objectives of AM Europe. With a solid, competitive, and growing industrial sector, Spain is ready to play a leading role in this process.
